Reject

Plumbob Jake was funny. And sweet. We never had a moment of silence! It was making my wish to kiss him even bigger. I think he's perfect.

And the best part was, he seemed to be giving me flirty signals too! It's like we were a match made in heaven. I wondered if he worked out a lot by the size of his biceps and I reminded myself that maybe I should start going to. Especially with all that ice cream I was downing...

But maybe I spoke too soon about Jake liking me back...

"Woah, Alyssa. I don't think we should be doing things like that."
My cheeks flushed red, how embarrassing! And it stung a little too. I didn't like rejection too much.
"It's probably my fault though, I never told you that I have a girlfriend."
My jaw dropped, why had he been flirting with me then?
"Oh I'm so sorry!"
"No problem, hey lets go start a fire."

I was still mulling over this news, how was Jake suppose to be my perfect match made in heaven if he had a girlfriend? Or maybe I was just going to have to work hard to have Jake. I stiffled a sigh, why doesn't anything ever come easy for me?

But Jake did burn his food he was roasting and I thought what perfect karma it was.

Awhile later I received a phone call from work about a job.

"What's the job boss?"
"You'll need to speak to Jake Lane about it. He wasn't that inclusive about what he needed."

I looked over to Jake who was giving a small smile. Well at least I could get some work in tonight.

"So I heard you need some Private Investigator help?"
"Yeah, actually. That's you?"
"Duh...didn't you ever question while I'm always at the police station?"
Jake laughed, "I honestly thought you were the coffee girl."
"Well I suppose a Private Investigator needs a hidden identity. Coffee girl seems perfect. So what do you need help with?"

Apparently someone at the office has been hacking his computer and he'd like to find out who and get a little revenge.

"I'll get started on it first thing in the morning,"
"Awesome, thanks so much Alyssa. You know...you're really great. I'm glad we hung out tonight."
My heart fluttered, was he flirting again?
"Me too, I really like you Jake..." I stepped forward and he didn't shy back. Was my wish to kiss him finally going to be granted? Without thinking I leaned in closer to him.

Apparently not.
